Why People Love Del Mar California

Del Mar is a stylish beach community in north county San Diego, California. Those of us who live here regard San Diego as "paradise." The ocean-side beach towns along the coast north of San Diego - what we who live here call "North County" - is even more heavenly.

Our North County "paradise" is a community of small, quaint beach towns: Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Cardiff, Leucadia and Carlsbad all blessed with cooling ocean breezes. Our towns have charming hotels, resorts and inns, unbelievable restaurants and absolutely gorgeous beaches.

Del Mar Ca has a very long record of celebrities living and playing here due to the Del Mar horse racing track built under the guidance and inspiration of Jimmy Durante and Bing Crosby nearly 70 years ago. Their Hollywood star-power put the Del Mar Horse Race Track on the map as one of the most ritzy and prominent associations in the racing world. The Del Mar horse track brought a steady steam of well-known Los Angeles and New York celebrities to the Del Mar hotels and motels, and dozens of Del Mar inns and resorts prospered as a result.

Del Mar lodging accommodations and Del Mar resorts are breathtaking, although they tend to be quite pricey. One of the most exclusive Del Mar hotels is near the beach: it's the famous L'Auberge Del Mar, a fashionable San Diego resort that "Celebrates the extraordinary relationship we all have with the harmony and relaxation of the Pacific Ocean."

Rated among the best five-star resorts in the U.S. by Conde Nast, L'Auberge Del Mar hotel offers stunning views, casual sophistication and unmatched service to create a memorable weekend at a Del Mar resort - for a price.

The San Diego Fair is held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds every summer. We locals call it the fair the "Del Mar Fair" - in fact, I have never heard a local call it the San Diego Fair. The Del Mar location is just right - only a few blocks from the refreshing breezes off the ocean on those blistering summer days. If you plan to visit the fair from out of town, be sure to obtain reservations at one of the Del Mar Inns or Del Mar Ca Hotels.

There are many Del Mar bed and breakfasts, Del Mar Inns and Del Mar hotels, but the one that I find is the most intimate, quaint and near the beach and ocean for under $165 a night is the Del Mar Bed and Breakfast.

Del Mar California is one of few locations in the world where the Torrey Pine grows. The Torrey Pine is the one of the rarest pine trees in the United States - the Monterey cypress is rarer, but it's not technically a pine tree. The Torrey pines along the sea cliffs of Del Mar endure persistent drought and grow in hard sand which can hardly be called "soil". They are blasted by storms, soaked in salt spay and cooked in the sun, but they live stubbornly on.

Mr. Hunefeld relocated to San Diego 15 years ago. He travels the world in search of the perfect Bed and Breakfasts. Terry owns a lovely and romantic Inn in Del Mar across the street from the Pacific Ocean. For more info, click Del Mar Bed and Breakfasts or Bed and Breakfasts in Del Mar.

Where To Travel In Europe?

Many European countries give to the world famous and welcoming hotel accommodations. The Berlin Hotel named Ruiz-Carlton holds the first position. Ruiz Carlton has a great advantage : it is located near a famous beauty and relaxation center Here you can also take Pilates and yoga courses. You can't expect all these special services for free, so be prepared to pay above 300 euro in winter and a bit under 1000 in summer If you think this is expensive, you must know that Greek hotels for example, like the Mykonos have prices that go well over 1500 euros in outside tourist season periods.

As a respected hotel for person with lots of money, this hotel will offer extravagant services such as: spas, special massages for couples, incredibly luxurious rooms, covered swimming polls and last but not least, a wonderful sea view. Rich people all around the world come here in all seasons and free rooms are very hard to find.

A rather small European country, Cheha, offers valuable hotel accommodations. One of the most famous hotel accommodations here is Le Palais, meaning the palace, a hotel build in a castle. Practically, an old historic palace has been reconditioned and turned into a pompous hotel for tourists. Prices charged by this oddly shaped hotel match its style, varying around 300 euros, fit for the pocket of a nobleman. Even if it has been modernized and turned into a modern age accommodation, people that visit Le Palais will feel like they belong in a palace. Taking a Kelty carport shelter along in your trip is a good idea if you have a tight budget.

London also has a hotel accommodation that gets lots of visitors every year. The Mayfair Hotel can be found in a quiet and luxurious region of London Priced at 200 euros, a double bed room in the Mayfair Hotel might seem cheap for a luxurious hotel as this one is

In the summer, prices will escalate depending on room type and services offered Here we can even find room arranged according to different themes. Another special service are the facial and body beauty massages and treatments offered directly in your room.

Things To Do On The Gold Coast

Upon awaking this morning I promptly headed on over to Coolangatta Beach. A surf-rental client was leaving the area very early in the day and needed me to come by and pick up the equipment (a short board and a minimal) they had been using before they went ahead to check out. Hence I went for precisely that purpose, arriving a little earlier than 7am.

Coolangatta is located about 30 minutes south of Surfer's Paradise by car, along the Australian Gold Coast, both places renowned the world over for their phenomenal surf conditions. Surfer's Paradise at the northern end of the Gold Coast has some of the most incredible beach breaks given its shifting sand sea floor, a characteristic that imbues plenty of swell to the waves there.

Coolangatta, on the other hand, is farther to the south and more known for its point breaks, particularly at sites like Kirra, Snapper Rocks and Greenmount. Despite lacking the swell of the waves at Surfer's Paradise, the waves at these breaks are without a doubt the best in the area. On the right day, the waves continue to bend around the point all day long without interruption. After a full and tiring day of surf, a surfer can easily kick off a wave rather than having it end on them.

Not this morning though. This morning on arrival, the waves were less than a foot, clean as they get though with no wind to speak of. Having picked up the rented surfboard, I decided to have breakfast at a lovely little cafe on the beach front and see what happens at our beaches when there is no surf.

In looking around, it pretty quickly became clear why the Gold Coast in Australia's northern State of Queensland, is one of the premier beach holiday destinations in the world. Its only 7am in the morning and there is already so much happening. Obviously the 24 water temperature helps, as does the balmy 26 outside, who wouldn't want to go to the beach.

Enjoying the tame water, a few longboarders and Polynesian-style surfers (the standing-and-paddling kind) were out doing their thing in the ocean. Many beach-goers were already dipping themselves into the water in the areas designated by the flags, riding small breakers right up to the shore's edge.

Coolangatta is graced with an impressive 50 meters of perfectly golden sand as the average beach width, the perfect scenario for the many women working on their tans in their bikinis (even at a little past 7 in the morning!). Comically, I find that the ones out tanning so early are usually the ones wrapping up their vacation, desperate to reach that next shade of bronze before going back to the office job at home.

Other morning activities to be observed are being carried out by the several groups of folks enjoying the running and bike paths that are neatly cut out of the park pastures, where health-conscious people do exercise routines. Also, many simply stop for a minute to observe the whales way out in the ocean splashing and frolicking along their migration route.

I take in this marvelous vista, bustling with activity, as I comfortably sip my coffee and eat my eggs benedict which a pretty waitress kindly has served me. Being a local from the area, it is so gratifying to be able to just sit back and bask in the glory that so many tourists have traveled half a world to see. Hopefully you too will one day discover the beauty of this our home--it really just doesn't get that much better!

Damian Papworth knows that with holidays in the sun, with a warm ocean, golden sand and sun drenched days, no destination beats the Queensland Gold Coast.

Scotland And The Clans Of The Highlands

The Highlands of Scotland were well written about for their wars and betrayals and it is certainly accurate that from the reign of James IV in the 1490's existence in the Highlands was somewhat tumultuous. In 1493, James went against the strong chiefs of the MacDonald Clan and forfeited the MacDonald Lord of the Isles in favour of himself and the Campbell Clan. Therefore the Campbell's took over as powerhouse in that time at the expense of the MacDonalds.

Difficulties arose not simply with the MacDonalds but also with several other Scottish clans because of this unhealthy power divide that the Campbells held over all others. The Campbell were in such a position that they could actually buy up available property and charge a kind of lease upon everyone that wished to utilize the area for cows or sheep. The MacLeans were extremely aggrieved Clan. As a sidenote here, the word Clan originates from the Gaelic word "clann" which actually means "children".

It would seem this can signify any person inside a clan were strongly related however this was not the case. Only the higher echelons of the specific clan were associated with the chiefs. All others simply saw the chief as the leader rather than as a relative as such.

The particular system of clans came from a mixture of early Celtic idealism and feudal ways, the main point being the ownership of lands. The clan chief was the owner of the lands of the clan and he had the capability to grant the land out to his fellow clans men. The status of a clan nonetheless wasn't necessarily about the amount of land that the family owned or operated but more concerning the number of males the clan could possibly muster to be able to fight in war. Because of the Highlands being extremely militaristic they would be looked to for fighting men during the time of conflict between the King and his opponents. For the highland clans this became problematic because they often became embroiled in lowland politics.

When James VI came to be King however, civil war broke out. When he called on the clans to assist the Campbells decided otherwise. It was not just the Campbells who were to cause issues for James - he extirped (sent away) the clan MacGregor in 1603, and in 1609 he introduced new laws in to force which limited all clan chiefs from utilizing and abusing their earlier powers.

This Is Not Just Any Tan It Was An Expensive One

I always wondered why people in Britain would desire to go to destinations like the Dominican Republic for a summer holiday. I have nothing against the Dominican Republic or any of the Caribbean Islands. Could they provide anything extra than you can find at one of the many popular vacation locations in Europe.

Why would you consider sitting on an aircraft for around twice as long as you perhaps need. This is even worse if you have young children who are not going to appreciate being confined in a seat on an aircraft for this amount of time.

For most holidaymakers a journey to the Caribbean involves one of the all inclusive offers as the cost of food on beverage on some of the Caribbean destinations can be very costly. They spend all their vacation time in the holiday complex, which is in all chance located next to the beach. The accommodation offers entertainment in the evenings and you have all your beverages included with your all inclusive deal.

You could be anyplace in the world so why pay extra to travel all the way to the Caribbean. You could be in Spain in approximately 2 hours and stay in an all inclusive compound if you want. This way you could spend more cash on the standard of accommodation or pay less and get the same standard as in the Caribbean.

A suntan is a tan and anybody looking at you when you return back from your holiday is not going to be able to tell where you got your tan. So if all you are worried about is in is lying by the pool to get a tan why travel further than you have to. All you are doing is spending extra cash on a long haul flight, which could be either saved or spent on acquiring a better hotel or for extra spending money.

Prior to booking a holiday think about what you really want and then have a search at the best choices for your needs. It is your vacation so it is crucial to make sure you get the best one you can find.

Thomson Holiday All Inclusive offers provide many holiday options. Find out how to get some great deals with travel tips from Jim Bonetti of travel site Cheap Holidays 2010

The Mapes Hotel: Reno’s Lost Art Deco Jewel

On a cold, gray morning in late January 2000, the historic Mapes Hotel in Reno was imploded by 75 pounds of explosives tucked into the art-deco structures support columns. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community and nationally to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts.

While the logic and necessity of demolishing the Mapes is very questionable, one thing that is certain is that the hotel was an important part of Northern Nevada history. The Mapes opened in'47 and with it ushered in a new era for casino gambling and the state of Nevada. Despite some historical revisionism that suggests that the modern era began in Las Vegas with Bugsy Siegel's famed Flamingo, the Mapes was actually the first building in America to have a hotel, casino and live entertainment under the same roof. The Mapes attracted countless celebrities who'd make it their home when business brought them to Northern Nevada--this included movie stars like Clark Gable, TV stars like the cast of 'Bonanza' and political power brokers like infamous anti-Communist crusader Joseph McCarthy.

In the 50s and 60s it became, along with Lake Tahoes Cal-Neva Lodge the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The top floor, window-walled Sky Room showcased performances by the legends: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason, Louis Prima, Mae West, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the Marx Brothers among others. Subsequent years were not kind to downtown Reno but the Mapes continued to do well during the 60's and 70's. The hotel finally closed in'82, due more to financial difficulties experienced by the Mapes family caused by one of their other Northern Nevada gaming properties than anything else.

While the last twenty years brought an amazing boom in the population and economy of Southern Nevada, the Northern part of the state didn't see much of it at all. For that reason, the urgency of destroying the Mapes is even more questionable. In the Las Vegas area, its easy to justify the demolition of older hotels with simple economics--the older properties simply can't compete in the current mega-resort dominated marketplace. Furthermore, the insane valuation of the land on which they sit makes it financially unfeasible to preserve them as pop culture museums.

This is not the case in Reno, where land and buildings for development in virtually every casino area are abundant. The city argued that the land on which the Mapes stood was necessary for their redevelopment efforts--a somewhat absurd position given the realities of downtown Reno and the lack of any real development on the property since the demolition. Despite receiving a number of viable concepts for the Mapes Building, the City Redevelopment Authority rejected all of them and the Mapes was destined for demolition.

The role of the City Redevelopment Authority was questioned throughout the process. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was on a prime location between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. A number of sound financial proposals were presented that would preserve the integrity of the structure including condominiums, office space, and perhaps most viable, upscale senior apartments. Oddly, all of these proposals were turned down by the citys Redevelopment Agency which continued to maintain that demolition was the only viable option despite copious evidence to the contrary.

Following the 2000 demolition, the lot remained vacant for over a year until a temporary ice skating rink was hastily constructed the following winter. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, isn't the sort of game changing improvement suggested by the City Redevelopment Agency and their adamant insistence that the building be demolished. To the contrary, it appears they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark that played a significant part in the economic growth of the entire state.

Gay Vacations in Cancun, Travel Tips

You're going to have a great time on your vacation in Cancun! To get ready, you need to evaluate both the time and the money available to you: You can take a four-day cruise or longer, or you can fly to your destination. If you are going with a friend, be certain that you agree on limitations, and then have fun making plans!

Usually a cruise to Cancun will either leave from Galveston or Miami. Usually the ships are going to leave for Cancun in the evening time. Most of the ships that leave from the western area of the U.S. will end up taking you to Mexican Riviera.

Planning on flying? If you book the flight as well as the hotel together you can really save some money. Using a travel agent is okay, but if you do so, ensure that they lay out all that will be included in the cost you are paying for your vacation.

It's a good idea to figure out whether you are going to Cancun Calica or to Cancun Playa del Carmen. Both are great options. Calica will offer great beaches, a wonderful night life, and tours of historic ruins and interesting nature parks. On the other hand, Playa del Carmen is a town on the beach. You can check out tropical forests, enjoy touring some ruins, or even check out the biosphere reserve.

Buy sunscreen! It's hard to avoid the water in Cancun, and it's best to buy waterproof sunscreen.

Before you leave, talk to your cell phone company to find out if there are roaming fees while you are vacationing in Mexico. This will be important knowledge to know if you want to call back to family or your office.

The large part of your money should be put into traveler's checks. Although places are happy to take American dollars, you may want pesos. If you decide to exchange for them, ensure you go to a good bank. Keep the traveler's checks and the theft info on them separate. Ensure that theft protection is on all your credit cards you have with you. Never tear your pesos or take any that are ripped, since the government won't honor them if they are damaged.

Tip your hotel staff and the wait service at restaurants and night clubs at ten to fifteen percent.

If you are going to travel by cab, let them know where you are going and come up with an agreed upon price. You don't have to tip the cab driver.

When you are walking to your destination, never go by yourself. Remember, pedestrians in Mexico are not given the right of way, so be very careful.

Consider talking to the staff at your hotel to find out great places to visit. For great gay nightlife, the Karamba club is one that is excellent to visit.

It doesn't matter how you are planning to get to Cancun, make sure that you check to see if there are restrictions on luggage you need to know about. This may include weight, size, pieces, and charges for extra. It's a good idea to know boarding restrictions too. Planning your trip is important. You'll have a great time doing it and you'll be sure that your trip goes as planned without any problems.

We really know the significance of your presence. You will find the best attendance, fun, entertainment and all your needs in this event. We have structured a perfectly-done plan covering all elements of your attendance's main objective: to enjoy this unforgettable Latin Hot Party experience! Without a doubt these will be your best gay vacations.
